New glasses

It's the last day of 2019, and I failed to find an optometrist who could accommodate me for an eye exam today, because they were all booked up! Yes, I ignored many prior text and letter reminders of booking an appointment, but it doesn't matter, I can always wait until next year, and it is fine.

I have been wearing glasses since high school. Since I started working, I have had a new pair almost every year. Over the years, I realized glasses are more of a fashion statement than a necessity, especially if you bother to change a pair every year. There are name brands like Gucci, Prada, Vera Wang, Tom Ford, just to name a few. There were the small oval frames, the small rectangular frames, titanium, frameless, to more recently, aviator frames and thick retro.

I enjoyed picking out frames for myself, but has not been a satisfying experience. How they fit my face, too wide, too large, too small, one must not slide off my not-so-high Asian nasal bones, and I never seem to be able to find the perfect frame. In recent years, I started to wonder if the "issue" was on the frames or was it my dissatisfaction of my own face? My current pair is an aviator shape rose gold frame with a single bridge, which both my mom and Jack voiced their dislike. Guess what, it didn't bother me as much cause I like them. I'm the first to buy them when they come out and they are different.

At some point in our lives, it's good to start feeling comfortable in our own skin. No matter what I wear and how I do my hair, it is still me, so I just picked what I like, and let others say what they want.
