A snapshot of a busy woman's life

Here is an example of the chaotic life which I live, that can explain the name of this blog. I know my busy life is more of a norm than an exception in today's society.

7:11 AM (based on the bedroom clock which was approximately 5 minutes faster)
- Waken by Amy's warm and moist tongue that smelled like dog food.
- Protected myself from Jake, who was stomping around the bed with a toy pheasant in his mouth.

7:11 - 7:30 AM
- Coffee, family time, played with the dogs.
- Agreed to carpool with Jack to work, with the following condition.
- Only if we rush because Jack had to be in the office by 9:30 AM, and I had an 8 AM conference call, which I could join on the way to work by phone.

7:30 - 7:45 AM
- Showered
- Put on the first work outfit I managed to fish out from a pile.
- Quickly brushed my teeth and brushed wet hair.

7:45 - 7:59 AM
- Packed computer and notebooks.
- Pulled conference call number for dial in at 8.
- Packed lunch - leftover carrots and celery sticks with home-made hummus, babybel cheese (2), apple sauce. Made trial mix with granola, peanuts, dry cranberries and dry blue berries.
- Misplaced cell phone.
- Called cell phone to locate it, but ring and no answer.
- Jack was sitting in the started car waiting.
- Rushed to the car to ask if Jack took my cell phone. "Nope".
- Rushed back home.
- Found cell phone in the purse - out of juice.
- Turned off heater and lights.
- Locked the house.
- Got in the car.

8 AM (Accurate time)
- First one to dial in for conference call using Jack's cell phone.
- Charged my cell phone.
- Hitched a ride to work with Jack.

8 - 8:35 AM
- Joined conference call, on mute.
- Enjoyed watching the ocean with high tide.
- Saw nice fogs hanging around the mountains and the water - beautiful.

8:35 AM
- Got to Foster City office, still on conference call.
- Switched phone with Jack.
- My cell phone was 20% charged, dialed back in using my own phone.

8:37 AM
- Walked into the office.
- Turned on the computer.
- Showed up on Sametime.

8:45 AM
- Conference call was over.
- Impressed the manager by being in the office early.
- Made coffee and got water.

Started working by 9 AM.

  1. I can't help but think, on a daily basis, about how much time is wasted commuting. Wouldn't it be great to be "at work" by eight?
